Visit Our Shop In HadfieldTandem Cottage has a shop in Hadfield, High Peak, Derbyshire. The shop keeps most of our range in stock, and all at the same low price as in our mail order catalogue. The shop address is Tandem Cottage Needlework, Stable Smithy, Off Hadfield Road, Hadfield, Glossop, Derbyshire, SK13 1NR. No jokes about local shops for local people, please. Opening HoursPlease note that at the moment the shop is only open on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, from 9:30am to 4:30pm, although if you can't make these times we may be able to open specially at other times. We also have a stall at Stalybridge Associated Stitchers meetings (first Thursday of every month, 7:30-9:30pm) and occasionally at Hadfield Stitchers (every Tuesday, 1:30-3:30pm). Please ask if you're interested in joining either of these groups.Getting to us:We are handy from Manchester and the Peak District and can be reached easily by road, rail or bus. If you are visiting the Peak National Park, or walking the Trans-Pennine Trail, why not pop in and see us.By Road: From the M60. Leave the M60 at the M67 junction, towards Sheffield/Barnsley. Continue to the end of the M67 and then continue straight on at the roundabout, onto the A57. Carry straight on through two sets of traffic lights then turn right at the next set of lights (at the Gun Inn), into the A57 Woolley Lane (signposted to Glossop). At the end, turn left at the mini roundabout and on the corner where Woolley Bridge Road swings left, take the next right into Hadfield Road. Carry on until you see a chinese takeaway on your left, and we are down to the right, just before the pub. There is parking down in front of us. By Rail: We are within easy walking distance of Hadfield rail station, which is served by frequent class 323 electic trains from Manchester Piccadilly, journey time is about 40 minutes. Hadfield is now the last stop on what was once the important Woodhead route between Manchester and Sheffield. The remainder of the route is now the Longdendale Trail, although there are plans to bring rails back to the Woodhead route. On leaving the station, walk to the end of the car park and turn left immediately, past the newsagent on the corner. Walk up the hill (quite steep, I'm aftraid), and turn right at the crossroads. Walk down this road for a short distance, and we are on the left after the Anchor pub and opposite the chippy. By Bus: The 237 and X37 services from Manchester Piccadilly Gardens and the S37 from Ashton all stop close to the shop, along with local services from Glossop. The 237, X37 and S37 also stop at Ashton Bus Station and Stalybridge Bus Station, where connections can be made from other buses, and outside Stalybridge Rail Station, where connections can be made from Transpennine rail services, and local services from Manchester Victoria. The buses all travel up Station Road in Hadfield. You will see Hadfield Station, and the bus will make a sharp right turn into the fairly narrow Railway Road. Get off at the next stop after this right turn, just over the crossroads. Head back towards the crossroads and turn left, walk down the road for a short distance, and we are on the left after the Anchor pub and opposite the chippy. Bus fares in Manchester tend to be a bit expensive, but if you plan to visit other places then there are Day Saver tickets or the GMPTE Wayfarer ticket which allows travel on most buses, trains and trams in Greater Manchester. More details, together with local bus and rail timetables can be found on the excellent GMPTE website. |
